Northern Cross 2012 St Cuthbert’s Way

Steve and Jackie Hindle, parishioners of St John’s walked this year with the St Cuthbert’s Leg of the Northern Cross. They tramped through wind,  snow and ice carrying an 8 foot cross between the team of twelve walkers. They slept on church hall floors doing all their own catering. Finally they walked barefoot with all the other ‘legs’ (6 others) across the sands to Lindisfarne, just as the pilgrims of old had done. Easter weekend was spent on Lindisfarne with the Easter Vigil beginning around a bonfire on the beach. An unforgettable journey for all. …. and they raised £200 for CAFOD
